Then you should consider taking piano lessons from me.
I teach both "classical" (by reading music) and "contemporary" (by ear) for students of all ages and all levels of experience.
My classical teaching method comes through my mentor Gary Klemp, who studied piano performance and teaching in Vienna. My jazz improvisation approach comes from time spent in Boston with (unfortunately relatively unheard-of) jazz saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi.
I also teach:
- beginning guitar - small ensembles - ear training, chord-based playing, and improvisation for all instruments
I teach at Center For Performing Arts, 3754 Pleasant Avenue, in south Minneapolis. It's a classic brick building originally designed in the 1910's as a convent (dormitory for nuns). I love the building, and I can give you a tour even if you aren't interested in lessons.
